Ok, basically the entire commentary on this picture is one giant edit; nothing's the same, so... yeah.
Mentioning this first before I forget: I've enabled comments now.
All right, so I changed the file from the inked lines to the pencil lines. People might not feel the same way, but I just really personally prefer the pencil version of this picture. While the inked one is much, much cleaner, it lacks the shading and greater detail of the original. At the same time, though, the pencil version has some "errors" due to being somewhat unfinished, but they're minor and mostly limited to little things on the coats of the men (including the bird-dude).
Also when I first posted this, I pointed out that it's a WIP. Well, I've decided I'm never going to colour this picture; I just really don't like how the lineart turned out, and I didn't use ideal paper for what I would have attempted.
Another thing: this was initially my first picture posted on my BlackWell tumblr, but I've decided to go ahead and delete it from there and move the commentary here-- because-- it didn't really have much of a commentary, so... unnecessary complication was unnecessary.
I love your pencil work - you have a real knack for getting expressions right, both in faces and those hellish beasts known as hands. Gorgeous work, and I totally agree about preferring pencil to inked lines. Every time.
Wow, thank you kindly! I'm glad you think so. Well, I preferred pencil in this case, but in general it depends for me. Overall, however, I do enjoy the softer, sketchier look of pencil.
